Creekside Health Center

Wheeling, Illinois

In the Spring of 2014 one of our past clients, the Greater Elgin Family Care Center (GEFCC), approached us with a challenging task. They were receiving federal grant funding to design and construct a new health clinic in Wheeling but there was an incredibly tight deadline for when the facility had to be seeing their first patient. If the deadline was missed, the funding would fall apart completely.

Sharp Architects worked feverishly to design a new healthcare facility to fit into an existing single story stand-alone building with a full lower level. GEFCC had never been in a building with more than one floor so we worked with them to help determine the correct location for each piece of program and developed a concept that was both functional and aesthetically pleasing.
The construction process required an extreme amount of coordination with the contractor and the Village of Wheeling to ensure that all inspection deadlines were met and the already shortened construction schedule could be condensed even further. In the end, the deadline was met, funding was received and a fantastic new facility greeted the community by late summer.
