Set in a renovated pole barn, Raven’s Husky Haven & Rescue aims to shelter and house Siberian Huskies as well as match rescues with prospective owners in the community and greater Chicago area. The property was purchased by the owners in 2011 for the purpose of creating the shelter, with a barn and small ranch house existing on the site. The over arching concept was to re-purpose the old barn structure into a new, useful, and efficient building to house the shelter while the house would be utilized by staff members who would live on site. The original roof and cladding were completely removed and new walls, finished ceiling, electrical service, plumbing, HVAC, and septic system were installed. When finished, the shelter will be able to house twelve of these intelligent and energetic pups in kennels, with an exercise room, grooming room, offices, and auxiliary spaces serving both canine and human interests.
