After the successful completion of the McHenry Community Health Center, GEFCC chose Sharp Architects to design a new clinic in Streamwood, Illinois. This clinic would help them accomplish their mission of better serving the large numbers of people in Cook and Kane Counties with limited access to health care. Instead of a stand-alone building, this clinic would be a build-out within an existing retail strip mall anchored by a Jewel grocery store. The clinic will feature a welcoming, secure and functional reception space, eight exam rooms, owner and tenant lab spaces, a procedure room, staff support space, and behavioral health office. The design was completed on a tight schedule in the Spring of 2012, and the clinic opened for business in August.
